Scleronema is a genus of catfishes (order Siluriformes) of the family Trichomycteridae. It includes three species, S. angustirostre, S. minutum, and S. operculatum.[1] S. angustirostre originates from Uruguay and grows to about 4.8 centimetres (1.9 in) SL.[2] S. minutum and S. operculatum both originate from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil; S. minutum 4.0 cm (1.6 in) SL and S. operculatum 8.0 cm (3.1 in).[3][4] Scleronema is not included under any of the trichomycterid subfamilies.[5]
